ABOUT THE COURSE

Designed by legendary course architect William P. Bell and completed by his son, William F. Bell, Torrey Pines Golf Course opened in 1957. It offers two 18-hole Championship courses – Torrey Pines North and Torrey Pines South. Both golf courses are played by the PGA TOUR professionals during the Farmers Insurance Open held in late January or early February every year. The final two rounds of this tournament are played on the South Course. The world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course provides some of the most dramatic ocean views from several holes.

The South Course was home of the 2008 US Open Championship and will host it again in 2021. Golf course architect Rees Jones redesigned the South Course in 2001.

The North course was recently redesigned by Tom Wieskopf in 2016 and offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Torrey Pines State Reserve.

**IMPORTANT NOTE FROM TORREY PINES GOLF COURSE**
“The South Course is going to be undergoing improvements in order to enhance the course conditions. This is being done to create a better playing environment and to upgrade the infrastructure. We expect this work to begin in February 2019 and continue through the summer into early fall, potentially affecting events and play as late as October 2019. At this time, we don’t have specifics on what this will look like, but we do know:
  1. A minimum of two holes will be closed at any given time, beginning late February 2019 through September 2019, with a minimum of two temporary greens utilized in order to provide an 18 hole experience at all times.
  2. Two holes at a time will be split into two hole each, and will be utilized in order to provide players with an 18-hole experience throughout the construction period.
  3. There is no plan to offer discounts for players affected based on the preliminary scope of the project.
We appreciate your understanding as we complete this maintenance to improve the overall course conditions and ultimately the experience for years to come. You will be among the first players to take advantage of the new improvements at no additional cost. The South Course has not had any significant improvements since 2002, and this is an important project that will modernize the course for all players”.
